Sunny black house
Claim designed a house in the forest of Groß Glienicke, inbetween Potsdam and Berlin. The forest-dwelling-house is a reinterpretation of the bungalow for a “best agers” couple, that plays with the ambivalency between the stereotypical typology and the unconventional plan and volume. The compact building consists of two cubes of approx. 55m² being slightly rotated towards each other. This volumetric disposition corresponds to the functional disposition as a “living” cube and a “dormitory” cube. Besides this dichotomy, the interior layout is an open plan, that is partitioned by the volume of the second bedroom. Towards the North, the functional spaces, as the kitchen or bathrooms, are lined up. The roofridge is moved over the living cube, which creates an asymetric roofvolume. This merges the two cubes into one coherent volume. The roofs volume follows the course of the facades besides the eaves facing the south. At this point the roof creates a slight canopy over a small veranda, that is accentuated as a cutout from the black volume. The interior spaces are dominated by the roofs geometric faces that bind the spaces below into one contineous and readable whole.
Das WaldWohnHaus ist eine Neuinterpretation des Bungalows für ein älteres Ehepaar, die mit der Ambivalenz zwischen dem typologischen Stereotyp und der Unkonventionalität des Grundrisses und des Bauvolumens spielt. Der kompakte Baukörper besteht in seiner Ausgangsform aus zwei geringfügig zueinander gedrehten Kuben von jeweils ca. 55 qm Grundfläche. Dieser volumetrischen Gliederung entspricht auch die funktionale Strukturierung in «Wohnhaus» und «Schlafhaus». Trotz dieser Zweiteilung entsteht im Inneren ein offener Grundriss, ein Langraum, der durch einen eingestelleten Schlafraum unterteilt wird. An der Nordseite sind die Funktionen wie Kochen und die Nassräume linear angeordnet. Die Firstlinie wurde mittig über den Wohnkubus platziert, so dass das Dachvolumen asymmetrisch über dem Grundriss sitz. Hierdurch werden die zwei Kuben zu einem eigenständigen Volumen zusammengebunden.Das Dachvolumen folgt bis auf den Bereich der Südfassde dem Fassadenverlauf. An der Südfassade, an der die Fassaden in einem stumpfen Winkel zueinander stehen, entsteht eine kleine überdeckte Veranda, die als Einschnitt im Volumen akzentuiert wird. Der gesamte Innenraum wird von den Schrägen des Dachvolumens dominiert und wirkt trotz kleiner Grundfläche durch die Kontinuität der Flächen sehr großzügig.
